AMELIA ISLAND TOUR & SHOPPING — $53.00

Discover the beauty and history of Amelia Island, Florida. Located just 45 minutes north of Jacksonville lies an oasis of nature and a very interesting history. Your tour will actually start shortly after the departure from the hotel as we explore the “Buccaneer Trail” on our transit to Amelia Island. The “Buccaneer Trail” takes us through maritime forests along the ancient route of the Tinucuan Indians, Spanish, French and English explorers. The tour will proceed to the historic village of Fernandia Beach where we will be met by a local writer who will provide a very informative and entertaining tour of this historic village. Your lunch will be in the historic district which has a number of dining options. One of these is The Florida House, the oldest surviving hotel in the state of Florida dating back to 1857. The Florida House is listed in the National Register of Historic Places. There you can dine on a delicious “Southern Home Style Lunch” that will leave the participants extremely satisfied. Afternoon shopping on Centre St. will be yet another highlight of this memorable outing.

1000—Arrive Fernandina Beach, Amelia Island via The Buccaneer Trail & start tour

Noon—Lunch (on your own) in historic district

1300—Free time for shopping on Centre Street

1500—Depart Amelia Island

Memorial Service—Phase II

Phase II Memorial Service at Naval Station Mayport will include the installation of the bell and plaques to complete the ship’s memorial started at the reunion in 2007.

0745—Depart hotel by tour bus

0830—Arrive Naval Station Mayport/Security (please have all identification ready)

0900—Ceremony—Dedication of Phase II of the Memorial (1—1-1/2 hrs.)
1030—Free time at Memorial

1130—Lunch at Ocean Breezes

1330—Depart Naval Station Mayport

1400—Arrive back at hotel
