USS FRANKLIN D ROOSEVELT CV42 MEMORIAL

At the 2006 business meeting in Norfolk, VA, the membership voted to erect a memorial
dedicated to the USS Franklin D. Roosevelt and all who served aboard. On 18 May 2007
the 1st phase of this Memorial was dedicated at a special service at the Naval Station Mayport.

The second phase of this memorial project is still being worked on. We have
the full support of base personnel and are working with the Naval Historical Center
to get permission to change the location and use the bell and quarterdeck plaques
which we put on the Intrepid in NYC back in 1995.

Please keep this project in your thoughts and don't be bashful about donating, after all this
is our legacy to future generations and we feel that we want to do something of an
exceptional nature, which, of course, costs money. Therefore, the memorial fund, which had been
established by our association Treasurer, Garry Theis, is still accepting donations to finish phase 2 of this project.
If you wish to donate to this fund, please send your checks made payable to
the USS Franklin D. Roosevelt Reunion Association to the Treasurer at
7925 Bechtol Rd., Lima, OH 45801-9723,
with a notation that the funds are for the memorial.
